Team EQ- What it Looks Like
Remember, emotions are contagious– both the positive emotions and the negative emotions. Likewise, teams have their own collective EQ and this EQ can be either high or low.
Below are characteristics of both types of teams: High and Low Team EQHigh Team EQ:
- Work in collaboration
- Higher productivity
- Improved morale
- Increased employee tenure
- Increased job satisfaction
- Use of humor as a strategy
- Job and company engagement
- Better communication
- Effective communication outside of team
Low Team EQ:
- Unhealthy competitiveness
- Lower productivity
- Decreased morale
- High turnover
- Lower job satisfaction
- Sarcasm is prevalent
- Lower job and company engagement
- Lack of communication or critical communication styles
- Tendency to work in silos
Emotions are an intrinsic part of being human. And humans collectively become the make-up of teams. A team with high EQ realizes that emotions are an important aspect to be respected, not ignored or abused
