Stages of Leadership – Emotional Intelligence
Stage Four of Four
The top developmental skill for effective leadership is a high level of emotional intelligence. This skill is developed and strengthened through quiet and regular reflection. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand emotions, particularly one’s own emotions. “Know thyself”, proclaims the ancient Greek aphorism. Social and personal awareness include leadership, influence, communication, conflict management, relationship bonds, teamwork, and collaboration. It is often said that social and personal influence and inspiration are the most basic foundations for all of life’s success!
Reflection often comes with wisdom. Or does wisdom come through reflection? Perhaps it is a combination of both. Effective leaders practice the Success Habit of Reflection. This Success Habit drives the Emotional Intelligence factor.
