October is International Strategic Planning Month
The month of October has been designated as International Strategic Planning Month. What a great idea to place this on your calendar – especially the executives of organizations. The act of strategic planning is how you create the future for an organization.
This month is time to take advantage of the opportunity for businesses and individuals to review their efforts for the past and current year, make adjustments to meet current goals and start the planning process for next year. How clear is that for both individuals and executives. This is a critical step for any organization to take – creating your future using a system that encourages discussion and dialogue, understanding the choices to make, selecting a course, making decisions designed to improve your competitive advantage and committing to the execution of plans.
During this month, I will share different ideas, methods and techniques for executing the strategic planning process for you and your organization. Topics to be covered during the month of October include Performance Management or the ability to track actual results; what is vision and why is it important to an organization or leadership team?; Major Driving Forces – what are the different major driving forces and how do they impact your organization; and, what are some techniques and methodologies you can use to insure successful implementation of the strategic plan.
While Strategic Planning or Strategic Thinking is primarily for organizations, it is simple to convert the techniques or methodologies for individuals. I will review some of the things that individuals can do to create a strategy for their lives – or even a “family plan” to involve everyone that is important to you.
Get ready our Strategic series will begin Friday.
