Fact: Tomorrow Will Be As Crazy As Today
As an entrepreneur, I am continuously thinking that if I can make it to tomorrow or the weekend I can catch up and possibly get ahead. GEEZ! What a pipe dream! Plus, I thought I was the only one who had this issue hanging around to bug me while attempting to put structure and order into my day.
Well, I began to listen to my corporate brethren who were saying the same thing – sometimes with even greater intensity. I heard about the 200 plus emails and voice mails – not to mention the continuous stream of meetings to attend.
My goodness, it is a wonder we get anything done in this world of crazy we live in.
Yet, the truth is this has become the new norm for all of us to deal with and manage in our lives. Therefore, we need to redirect our energies to getting results with the time we have available. We need to understand exactly what our highest priorities are for the day, week, month, quarter and year.
Start with the year and move back to the current daily pathway you are taking. Knowing our highest priorities is the starting point. The next point is simple yet more difficult to execute on a consistent basis.
The second part of taking the crazy out or managing it effectively is to develop your own self esteem. Having high self-esteem allows you to say “no” to more crazy while focusing on what is truly important for you. High self-esteem gives you the positive energy to move forward and actually take back control of your life. The method is simple – you make the right decisions during the day which move you toward your goals or away from the problems (when I say “away from the problems” I really saying solving the problems and clearing your pathways to the next thing you need to do.)
While being organized is a bonus, it is not the only thing you need to do. The reality is life is about the choices you make each and every day. To help you make better decisions, it is more important to know your highest priorities and have the self esteem to make difficult choices to stay the course you have charted.
Oh, finally, enjoy yourself and the life you have. This is not a dress rehearsal it is the real thing, so live it like everyday is the most important day in your life. Why? Because it really is the most important day.
