Before you can reach disengaged workers, it is important to know what a disengaged employee actually is; or…the flip side, which is an employee who is engaged. Engagement is NOT job satisfaction.  Job satisfaction is…. well, job satisfaction.  It measures how satisfied a person is with their job.  Satisfied workers may or may not do a great job and may or may not go the extra mile.

An engaged employee is someone who has zeal for his or her job.  They believe in what they are doing and for whom and with whom they are working.  And when one of the variables change, the engaged worker will set about to make positive changes.  They will reinvent themselves in their job, either with a new company or by taking positive steps by which to continue engagement within their current job.  Or they will have open dialog about their loss of zeal.  But they will do something constructive! The Law of Belief is a sister law to the Law of Attraction, discussed in last week’s blog.  Things, people, and circumstances are attracted into our lives, either consciously or unconsciously, through the belief systems we have.

Many times our belief systems are old and outdated and no longer serve us.  Often, these beliefs never did work to our higher good.  For a good source on the impact of belief upon you mindset – go to this blog site.

Many beliefs come from our families and are often handed down generation to generation.  Beliefs can center around health and wellness, financial success, indebtedness, life expectancy, career choices, religious doctrines, marital success, etc.  Continue reading ‘Does the Law of Belief Impact You?’ »

What’s Driving This Unemployment?

We are undoubtedly in tough financial times and a very uncertain job market. But have you noticed that some people continue to find great new jobs or land incredibly large new client business. Are these people luckier than most or have they laid the proper groundwork?

Their success is probably a combination of proper groundwork and proper belief alignments. Will we ever return to the spending excesses of the recent past? Many experts say “no”. Some experts assert that this particular financial downturn has been so severe and so debilitating that consumers will never return with the same confidence as in the past. This downturn in spending likely means a tighter job market and high unemployment rates. Ouch!

An excellent way to prepare your self for continued employment is to think of yourself as being self-employed. But you work for a company or corporation, you say? Most of us are employed by either small or large businesses. Continue reading ‘Succeeding in a High Unemployment Market’ »

Have you been watching the new TV series – Undercover Boss. While I prefer to watch it on CBS.com to save time, I found the show and the story lines very interesting and very important for the executives involved. Then it hit me – How Many Executives Do the Undercover Boss Thing?

What a concept – going into the day to day operations of your company or enterprise and learning how things actually are going. This takes the “Management by Walking Around” concept to the ultimate level.

So what can you learn from using this new (old) technique? Here are seven things you could learn… Continue reading ‘Be An Undercover Boss’ »

Law of Attraction

My first introduction to The Law of Attraction was in 1992 when I attended The Phoenix Seminar (on the Psychology of Achievement) by Brian Tracy.  Since that time, I have heard many speakers and read many articles about this important law; however, my most heartfelt gratitude will always be first and foremost to Brian.

Brian Tracy teaches, “You will always attract, positive or negative, people and circumstances that are in harmony with your dominant thoughts.”  Simply put, this means that people, circumstances, and events manifest in our physical world from the main themes we mull around in our brains.  Ouch!   For many of us, this could be scary! Additional sub-qualities of Emotional Intelligence…

Subtle Changes for Personal Improvement

We have reviewed in past posts the basic components of EQ.  There are five primarily accepted components of Emotional Intelligence, although some models use only four components.  As review they are:

  • Social Skills

There are additional sub-qualities of EQ.  These are: Continue reading ‘Using Emotional Intelligence to Push Your Comfort Zone’ »

Emotional Intelligence  (EQ) has been identified as a strong indicator of the level of success a person can obtain in life.  In previous posts we have defined EQ and also outlined how to increase one’s level of EQ.

This post will talk about what Emotional Intelligence is NOT.

These are the skills and competencies that are NOT part of EQ: Continue reading ‘EQ – Emotional Intelligence – What it is NOT’ »

Relationships, whether familial or business, are only as good as the foundation upon which they are built.  We will be only looking at integrity within business.  If you study great leaders, one great characteristic that is constant in each leader is integrity.  Great leaders are found doing what is right regardless of the circumstances.  If you research great leadership qualities, in each study you will find a list of characteristics common for leadership.

Common on these lists are: Continue reading ‘Integrity in Leadership’ »

Emotional Intelligence, sometimes called EI or EQ, is a strong indicator of the level of success one can attain in life, both in the personal and business realms.  Experts say that a heightened EQ increases happiness because it allows you to focus on feelings as well as facts.

IQ focuses on logic.  Strong emotional intelligence allows you to capitalize on your IQ because studies show that it takes both a strong IQ as well as EQ to build and maintain a successful career, strong and healthy relationships, and an overall fulfilling life.

So, can Emotional Intelligence be improved? Continue reading ‘How to Improve Emotional Intelligence – Your EQ’ »

I was asked recently, what is the major issue that keeps an executive from getting promoted or even costs them their jobs?

While there can be many factors that lead to a passed promotion – lack of skills or competencies, lack of related experience, etc. – there are really two major issues leading to job failure.

These factors are… Continue reading ‘Issues that Cost Executives Promotions and Jobs’ »
